How CP Kills Termites

In 1988 Caribpest introduced and incorporated Fatal Attraction inhouse baited pegs (not for sale) as a primary use weapon in our termite extermination operations. Up until then the generally accepted termite treatment standard was based solely on spraying hundreds of gallons of pesticides inside and outside homes to flood under the floors and against the structures sides.
Back in those days to get this done scores of defacing holes were drilled into tiles or floors inside each room, then many gallons of liquid pesticide chemicals pumped through these holes to flood the underside. Thereafter, pesticide barriers were created by pumping at least 50 to 100 gallons of chemical pesticides against the outside of walls around a small 3 bedroom home.
We had it wrong. This predominantly North American application guideline was based on frosty, non-tropical nesting behavior of termites. The procedure was adapted here in the 1960’s and continues until today . The erroneous conclusion was that termites only emerge from nests they can make only in the ground. After feeding on wood above ground, termites are compelled to return by round trip to nests in the soil for warmth and moisture. Unable to return to their nest/s, they dehydrate and die. This is what we thought then.
This inaccurate treatment attitude continued for many decades here.
So, under and around each structure huge amounts of liquid chemical pesticides were pumped to try and bar them from getting back to nests under homes, but the problem is that nests would stay alive. At the same time it was supposed to block termites from rising from nests that may be under structures, that was wrong, they would just shift trails to untreated soil areas and come back up again. We assumed at the time that all termites trapped above ground after treatment in roofs and walls would die without accessing soil moisture. That was wrong also, termites can regenerate and start nests above ground in kitchens and roofs, sending in rainflies from blocked nests. They HAVE TO SUSTAIN THE LONG ESTABLISHED QUEEN.
We were committed to getting the facts on tropical termites behavioral habits and reducing massive amounts of pesticide chemicals INSIDE AND BESIDE STRUCTURES. At the time Caribpest was only company that refused to accept this non tropical way of treatment and moved to termite pegging and baiting long before most North American termite control companies thought of it (They are all doing it now). And since 1988 (Gilbert) we have been improving on all our baits attractiveness and combination strategy.
Caribpests’s pioneering approach here in Jamaica began just after the Gilbert 1988 hurricane, after years of testing through the UWI with the late Professor Ajai Mansingh.
It is based on the premise that it is better to magnetically feed pests with poisonous baits than to scatter, divert or spread them with sprays.
So, along with our attractive baits we also apply very small amounts of safe, transferrable, non-repelling pesticides which termites must cross to reach the bait food the are pulled to., so, each time as termites emerge from nests to feed, they are lured towards the baits as they do so, they are unknowingly smearing themselves by passing through carefully placed pre-deposits of the transferrable formulas. They then return to nests not only externally contaminated, but also with stomach filled with baits which they pass on as food for all nest members. Within a short period of time these remote nests are safely de-activated.
SAFER AIR SPACES!
Our in-house blended repellants are only placed at points where there is NO RISK TO HEALTH AND NO RISK or LONG TERM EXPOSURE INDOORS TO FUMES. INCORRECTLY OR UNPROFESSIONALLY APPLIED TOO MUCH PESTICIDE DEPOSITS CAN SEEP from soil applications to subfloors, and get inside SPACES THROUGH CRACKS, CREVICES AND INTO BEDROOMS THROUGH WALL PLUG OUTLETS or from dug trenches outside by wind draft through or from roofs and ceilings INTO THE AIR during very hot summer times. We conduct all applications of pesticides very with careful considerations about overloads…that is only where and when needed and the less the better, And our theme is more Focus On baiting.
Will the nests be killed?
Some embedded situations of termite infestation will require gas fumigation to terminate above-ground nests. When these are encountered, we will recommend the fumigation process. Otherwise, for our Gold Residual Treatment application, the choice of formulas are all designed and applied in smaller quantities. These halt termite feeding on structural wood, but NEVER compromises the attractiveness and effectiveness of our nest ending objective. They never repel termites from our pre-set rainfly baits or baited areas.
